A hairdresser in a salon in Iraq explains what she needs to work and demands what she needs to survive. I came across the original monologue on an international new channel and was interested in the matter-of-fact way she was speaking about her business and family in a war zone. I began to imagine my friend who cuts my hair speaking in the same manner and then imagined what Richmond would look like in the midst of war.

In this video I wanted to create the sense of not being heard amongst the sounds of war but continuing to demand with a louder and louder voice.
